Sterling Mire was born from fine music and high performance. Both her father, lead singer and rhythm guitarist from the notable underground Austin, Texas psychedelic band, Ramon Ramon and The Four Daddios, as well as her vocalist and visual artist mother, bestowed upon her the prime elements and divine gene pool required to make amazing music. In Dallas, Sterling entered the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and developed her craft as an actor and singer.
She soon moved to Los Angeles and began to work as an actress in feature films, network television series and music videos. These included CBS’ THE NANNY, FOX’s V.R. TROOPERS, NBC’s 13TH STREET, and FASHIONABLY L.A., amongst many others.
Thereafter, Sterling was chosen to perform in all four of the iconic "BAZ" rock n’ roll comedy mini-movies, created by humorist Martin Lewis for EMI-Virgin Music. This appearance caught the attention of Virgin Records’ Vice President of A & R, which resulted in her development deal with Interscope Records.
She then wrote and recorded over 24 original solo tracks and played live throughout Los Angeles at such renowned venues as The Viper Room, the Whisky A Go-Go and Cinespace. Her music was then discovered and placed in the comedy/drama Showtime feature motion picture, FREE, starring Ione Skye and Corin Nemec.
Sterling later teamed up with guitarist James Goddard, of the cult U.K. electro band Redshift, and began making music as Darlings Of The Day in 2005.
Darlings Of The Day next created their debut EP, GET BURNED, released by So Sweet Records in 2006. Some of the incendiary tracks on the EP include the synth-spun “Out of Mind,” the anthemic overload-themed “Hallucination Generation” and the hopeful, bouncy “Endless View.”
In 2008, core D.O.T.D. members Mire and Goddard played some notable live shows in Europe, including Sommeropenair in Bad Schallerbach, near Vienna, Austria, playing to an audience of nearly 15,000 fans.
In 2009, Darlings Of The Day recorded a new 5-track EP, DARLING DEMOS, and thrilled audiences at the world-famous House of Blues on Sunset Boulevard, The Roxy and other venues. Their tracks were played by rock n’ roll radio disc jockey icon Rodney Bingenheimer on KROQ in the U.S., while other DJs spun their tracks on the BBC and Pure Radio in the U.K. Celebrated director Jordan Levy, noted for his work with Grammy Award-winning alternative rock band Smashing Pumpkins, created a music video for D.O.T.D.’s “Your Doll.”
In October of 2009, Darlings Of The Day embarked on a short tour of the U.K. They first played to an audience of over 10,000 fans as the opening act at Manchester’s In The City music festival. This was followed by full-house shows in such London venues as Monto Water Rats, Dublin Castle and several others. The band performed live and was interviewed on XFM’s massively popular THE C WORD, hosted by Inspiral Carpet’s Clint Boon; the BBC and Channel M.
Between 2006-2010, four D.O.T.D. tracks were placed in several primetime MTV television series, including the popular comedy game show PARENTAL CONTROL, as well as the reality shows DATE MY MOM and PIMP MY RIDE.
In January 2010, a special Sterling Mire track, “The Past,” was featured in the comedy feature motion picture FUDGY WUDGY FUDGE FACE, starring and directed by comedian Harland Williams (DUMB & DUMBER and HALF-BAKED).
In July 2010, three Darlings of The Day tracks “Get Burned,” “Out of Mind” and “Endless View” were prominently placed in the feature comedy motion picture # 1 CHEERLEADER CAMP, starring Charlene Tilton.
In January 2011, the Darlings of The Day track “Hero Worship” was placed in the SyFy original television comedy creature feature motion picture, MEGA PYTHON VS. GATOROID, starring award-winning singer Deborah Gibson and chart-topping pop artist Tiffany.
In July of 2012, Sterling’s original track, “Superbad,” was placed in the horror feature motion picture HOLD YOUR BREATH, starring Katrina Bowden (NBC’s 30 ROCK, AMERICAN REUNION), set for theatrical release on October 5, 2012.
Sterling’s repertoire of original music tracks includes over 50 songs, all of which she retains the licensing rights.
